Cotton – The Sustainable Wonder

Cotton is nature’s gift to mankind on earth. Pakistan is gifted with top quality short staple fiber. We have chosen cotton as our raw material and it is the main input in producing our cotton product.

What is Recycled Cotton?

Recycled cotton is made from reused material pre-consumer (post-industrial) or post-consumer cotton waste.

Pre-consumer waste comes from any excess material created during the steps of material and product manufacturing, e.g. selvedge from weaving, fabric from factory cutting rooms, or excess production and unsold items that might normally be disposed of as waste. When recycled, the waste is first separated by type and color then placed into stripping machines that break the fabric into pieces. Fibers are then pulled apart and the mixture is carded several times to clean and mix the fibers before being re-spun into new yarns. As the waste is already dyed, the yarn made from this fiber cannot be re-dye

Crescent Enterprises offers recycled cotton bags to its customers, as they help in preserving the environment for a cleaner, greener, sustainable future which falls in line with its mission and vision.

What is Organic Cotton?

Organic cotton is cotton which has been grown without the use of any insecticides or pesticides except for the ones which have been permitted by the certifying body.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in the world, however, it is one of the most chemically intensive crops to grow. As a crop it covers approximately 2.5% of the worlds cultivated land but it uses approximately 10%-16% of the world’s pesticides. These pesticides are responsible for causing air, water and soil pollution as well as affecting the health of the workers in the cotton growing areas.

Organic cotton aims to combat this issue by reducing the use of these harmful pesticides and thus lowering the ecological impact the growth of this crop has on this planet.
